"Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need."

Matthew 6:33

As we step into a new year, join us as we seek God on behalf of our Church, our community, our world and each other. At the start of 2025, be part of 10 days of prayer and fasting, and make this the year where your pursuit of God deepens like never before.

What is fasting?

Fasting is the act of choosing to abstain from food for a period of time. When we fast, we are practicing spiritual discipline by sacrificing one of our most essential daily routines. There is power in the absence of food as we hunger after the Word and seek God with our mind, heart, body and spirit.

Why do we fast?

According to the Bible, there are three duties of every Christian: give, pray and fast.

Are you in need of healing or a miracle?

Is there a dream inside you that only God can make possible?
Is there a friend or loved one that needs Salvation?
Do you desire to know God’s will for your life? Start the year off right and discover the rewards of putting God first!

Fasting in January is much like praying in the morning to establish the will of God for the entire day. When we put God first in our lives, in our families, in our finances – in everything – we believe that He will bless and multiply those areas. We believe that, as we pray and seek God and give Him our best at the start of 2025, He will bless our ENTIRE year!

How To Fast:

How to Begin

Start with a clear goal. Be specific. Why are you fasting? Do you need direction, healing, restoration of marriage or family issues? Are you facing financial difficulties? Ask the Holy Spirit for guidance. Write down your requests and prayer over them every day. Pray daily and read the Bible.

Deciding What to Fast

The type of fasting you choose is up to you. You could go on a full fast in which you only drink liquids, or you may desire to fast like Daniel, who abstained from sweets, treats and meats, and the only liquid he drank was water. Remember to replace that time with prayer and Bible study.

Deciding How Long

You may fast as long as you like. Most can easily fast from one to three days, but you may feel the grace to go longer and do the full 10 days. Use wisdom and pray for guidance. Beginners are advised to start slow.

What to Expect

When you fast your body detoxifies, eliminating toxins from your system. This can cause mild discomfort such as headaches and irritability during withdrawal from caffeine and sugars. And naturally, you will have hunger pains. Limit your activity and exercise moderately. Take time to rest. Fasting brings about miraculous results. You are following Jesus’ example when you fast. Spend time listening to praise and worship. Pray as often as you can throughout the day. Get away from the normal distractions as much as possible and keep your heart and mindset on seeking God’s face.

How to End

Don’t overeat when the time comes to end your fast. Begin eating solid food gradually; eat small portions, yoghurt, soups etc.
Fully expect that you will see breakthroughs as a result of your prayer and fasting. We don’t know when this will happen, but we do know that God is faithful and He will bring it pass in His own time. Not only that, God promises to REWARD those that fast as seen in the scriptures…

“When you fast, do not look sombre as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."
