Day Nine
Verse For The Day
Matthew 6 v 33
“Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
“Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
If you’re like me, you will be very busy this Christmas season. Things to do, buy, organise, family to juggle, commitments to keep and somehow try to enjoy it all in the process.
It’s possible that the Christmas season may bring you stress and in doing so, may snowball into your family home. You may be wondering, “how is this all going to work out, how will I fit everything in and get it all done?”
I love the story of Philip in Acts 8. He was going about his daily busy business and God intervenes and asks him to go out of his way on a mission!
Philip probably thought “that’s miles away, how will that work and how will I get back to where I need to be?!” This was way out of his way… but God had a plan.
There was an Ethiopian eunuch who needed someone to help him. He’d been to worship at the temple, but didn’t understand all about the things of God and God spotted him and asked Philip to deal with it.
It’s easy for us to say in this season, "I can’t serve at Church, I'm busy. I can’t help anyone, I've got enough to do myself, and I certainly can’t go out of my way and do something different because I don't have time!”
If that is you, then you’ve missed something.
My friend, don’t miss the true meaning of CHRIST-mas, by missing that it’s really about Christ.
Does God want US to be blessed in this season? Of course! But remember, it is in giving that we ourselves receive.
Don't be so busy with yourself that you completely miss what God wants you to do and what He has for you.
The end of this story has two precious things…
1. The man comes to know Jesus and gets baptised there and then!
2. Philip gets supernaturally transported to where he needs to be - Wow!
Yes, God turns up and supernaturally takes Philip out and takes him home - God will never leave you short.
When you make time for Jesus this season - HE WILL get you to where you need to be.
“Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matthew 6 v 33)
What are 'these things’? Everything that concerns you.
Family, finances, time, blessings and favour, love, joy, peace ….
Don't worry!
Be willing like Philip, and see God not only use you, but also get you to where you need to be, because you put Him first.
