Day Twenty Three

Verse For The Day

Isaiah 9:6 (KJV)
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Good day and winter greetings to you all. I wanted to encourage your hearts today, that you will know the presence and power of Jesus in this season we are in.

Winter wishes and festive greetings are not what this season is about. Though nice, as believers we need to understand ‘Jesus is the reason for the season’ - let me unpack this for you:

Isaiah 9:6 (KJV)
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

This verse is part of the book of Isaiah and is a prophecy about the coming of a saviour.

Christmas is all about celebrating Jesus - His birth. The wonderful thing about His birth is that it’s the start of the miracle of our salvation.

He came from Heaven to Earth - from being God the creator, He became human and was born in a manger in Bethlehem to a virgin - Mary. Immaculate conception - The Word Our God Became Flesh.

My favourite carol, ‘Hark the Harold Angels Sing’, was written by Charles Wesley. It describes Jesus’ birth as the means to overcome death.

Born to raise the sons of Earth - Me and You
Born to give them second birth - Our Salvation

Mild He lays His glory by,
born that man no more may die
Born to raise the sons of Earth
Born to given them second birth

This should be core and central to our celebrations this Christmas.

It’s all about our Saviour Jesus and just like the angels proclaiming, please join with them by singing out praise to our Saviour.

Christ the Saviour is born
Glory to the new born King

Now I’m encouraged! Let’s get excited by unpacking the meaning - as salvation is the best gift you can receive this Christmas!

MEANING
Born that man no more may die -
Refers to Jesus’ incarnation and resurrection. He conquers death for believers.

Born to raise the sons of Earth -
Signifies His power to lift humanity from hell with the devil.

Born to give them second birth -
Is about how, through putting our trust in our Saviour Jesus, we can be born again.

2 great days in our lives -
The first - the day you were born.
The second - when you found out why - when you heard the good news of the Gospel.

That Jesus came from Heaven to Earth and took on our sin, that those who turn to Him, repent and invite Him into their heart will be saved from their sin, and the precious Holy Spirit will come into our hearts and lives to not only save us but enable us and equip us to overcome the works of the enemy and everything he throws at us.

This system is not just a season.

It’s CHRISTMAS.

I encourage you to turn to Jesus and rise in faith believing - feel and know His uplifting presence and favour in your life.

Back to Isaiah 9:6

Jesus the baby is born.
Jesus the Saviour is given to us and the government shall be upon His shoulders.
He waits to carry you through life.
His name shall be called Wonderful Counsellor - The Mighty God - The Everlasting Father - The Prince of Peace

JESUS IS KING
There is no other name that is higher.
Today acknowledge Him - Give him the Glory!
He died, so we can live.
Resurrecting power is within us as we celebrate today.

Let today be a new day of faith for you.

Wake up - Wise up - Rise up

He loves you - know the Christ of Christmas.
He is our living Saviour - JESUS.

Happy Christmas to you all!
