Day 8
Show Up With Intentionality
Six years ago, my journey with Champions Church began.
My wife, Ruthlin, had already been attending after an invitation from her brother and sister-in-law, Fitz and Dawn. At the time, I was deeply committed and leading in my previous church, and at times felt genuine guilt even attending a Champions event. I admit that I struggled to be present at my first MANKIND Conference—and for a season, I struggled within myself.
If I’m honest, it affected home life too. But then there came a defining moment when I clearly heard the Holy Spirit instruct me to lead my family, not follow. That very day, I called my wife and daughters and told them we were committing fully to Champions Church. They cried. I cried.
From that point on, I made a decision to Show Up—consistently and intentionally. And I’ve personally experienced that miracles and breakthroughs often happen when you show up.
MANKIND is more than a conference—it’s a brotherhood. In the early period of committing to Champions men’s ministry I remember the early mornings at Men’s Prayer in the church foyer, not knowing anyone, feeling out of place, yet choosing to persevere. I kept showing up. Today, I can’t imagine life without Tuesday Men’s Prayer or our monthly Mentoring discipleship class.
There is nothing quite like men—young and old—gathering in their own space to connect, encourage, and sharpen one another. That’s why MANKIND Conference is a non-negotiable for me. It’s locked into my diary every year. As John Maxwell says, “Schedule your priorities; don’t prioritise your schedule.”
I live by this Scripture from 1 Corinthians 16:13–14:
“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.”
That doesn’t happen by accident. It requires intentional decisions. The truth is that the very essence of being a Godly man is under attack. Standing by and hoping for a good outcome isn’t enough. MANKIND exists to equip and release us to be better men, fathers, husbands, and leaders.
As a Youth Discipleship Leader, I was incredibly encouraged by the number of young men who attended last year’s conference. Many shared with me how much more confident and grounded they felt among their peers afterwards. That impact matters.
So the question is—what will you do with this message?
If you’re not booked in, act quickly.
If you are booked in, Show Up with intention—expectant, open, and ready for God to move.
The next generation needs to see real men living intentionally. They need to see you investing in their formation into Godly men who will shape the future.
