Day Three

It is at this point in any fast (day 3) that everything will be screaming…EAT, EAT, EAT!

Toxins will be exiting your body and they always go out kicking and screaming! A pounding headache, weariness and aching bones will all be pleading with you to stop this foolishness.

If you can just be determined today to push through, you will come into a ‘sweet place’ whereby food looses its hold over you and you begin to see and hear clearly again. A new sense of God’s presence will begin to wash over you and though food will never lose its pull entirely (it’s necessary and natural to eat) the desire that is normally your master will now be your servant.

Being and feeling hungry is not only usual, it’s normal. Don’t beat yourself up today because of the temptation, instead shut yourself away from TV adverts and places where food is being served if you can. However, if you are preparing food for the children during a fast it may not be possible to remove yourself  from the kitchen, but you can still conquer the natural desire for food.

When you would normally be eating, take time each day to pray specifically for something that needs to get sorted in your life. You may not FEEL anything but cravings, but that doesn’t mean that God isn’t working in answer to your prayers. Obedience brings blessing. Always!

Thought For The Day

When you turn from the things of the world and submit yourself to God, He will give you the grace to stand strong and resist the temptations you face right now.

Verses For The Day

Luke 4:1-13
Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry.
The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.”
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’"
The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. And he said to him, “I will give you all their authority and splendour; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. If you worship me, it will all be yours.”
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’"
The devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down from here. For it is written:
‘He will command his angels concerning you
to guard you carefully; they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’"
Jesus answered, “It is said: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’"
When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time.
