Day Ten
Invariably, many of us may NOT have seen any dramatic changes over the last 10 days, but that doesn’t mean that God hasn’t been working during this time. There is no promise in Scripture of immediate results because you fasted, but what is true is that God REWARDS openly those that do. We don’t know when, but we do know He will. Time will be the revealer of what unseen breakthroughs have happened, so don’t be discouraged. An unseen spiritual world has been tapped into.
As we end this fast, I also want to encourage you to make fasting not just a yearly event, but a regular part of your walk with Jesus. When and how often you fast is between you and God; however, I’ve found that my decision to make fasting part of my life falls into 3 distinct categories:
Discipline:
I normally discipline myself to fast once a week. This has long term spiritual and physical benefits, and I believe that all significant blessings and breakthroughs in my life have been birthed through this.
Obedience:
There are other times when I wake in the morning and sense a burden from the Holy Spirit to abstain from food. This is usually NOT my planned day to fast, but I need to obey God on that day for a reason unknown to me. On several occasions I’ve asked God as to why He wants me to fast on that particular day, but His answer is usually the same…”you will find out at a later date”. That kind of fasting is for something that God sees going on but I don’t. Be warned, these promptings from the Holy Spirit usually occur on the very morning that you were looking forward to a special breakfast or lunch! On these occasions we just have to trust and obey.
Presence of God:
In Matthew 9:14-15, we read these words… Then John’s disciples came and asked him, “How is it that we and the Pharisees fast often, but your disciples do not fast?” Jesus answered, “How can the guests of the bridegroom mourn while he is with them? The time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; then they will fast”.
Here, Jesus is being challenged as to why His disciples aren’t regularly fasting!
His answer is unusual, but has provided us with a key as to how to stay fresh in our walk with Jesus. He didn’t reply that his disciples didn’t EVER need to fast, but stated that they didn’t need to fast when He was close to them. However, when He was no longer close to them, then they would need to fast. Years ago I began to understand from this scripture that whenever there is a season of dryness with God, in that I don’t feel His close presence or power, then I know it’s time to fast. Fasting restores closeness to God. It’s a divine reset of my relationship with Him and a divine release of His power, favour and anointing on my life.
On this, the final day, I would encourage you to set in motion these 3 powerful principles and use them as a means to keep you fresh, passionate and close to Jesus.
Finally, let’s end strong TONIGHT at 7pm as we gather for communion, prayer and thanksgiving in the main auditorium. I look forward to seeing you there!

Thought For The Day
When you have fasted, expect a supernatural release of God's power in your life. Remember…your authority in Jesus’ name is not just for you to use on yourself, but to take and demonstrate Jesus’ power to whoever you may meet today.
Verse For The Day
Acts 4:13
When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realised that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.
